Abstract
Most media channels in Hong Kong such as newspapers, television, radio, and online media involved various forms of health and medical news reporting. It involves the dissemination of accurate and reliable health information, and this field of journalism is important in shaping public opinion, influencing health policies, and empowering citizens to make informed decisions about their health. This study explores the interrelationships between journalistic framing and journalistic practices in health and medical news reporting. By conducting in depth personal interviews combining with qualitative analysis, this study investigates the variations of journalistic frame production in health and medical news reporting among different types of news media. Furthermore, the study attempts to identify challenges and implications to journalists and researchers for health and medical news reporting. Based on a synthesis of theories in journalism and communication studies, this study also provides theoretical and practical implications to researchers and practitioners related to the field of health and medical journalism in Hong Kong.
