Zixuan Zhu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Hong Kong Shue Yan University. His research lies at the intersection of game studies, film and media studies, and digital culture, with particular interests in Chinese digital games, Wuxia and martial-arts games, participatory fandom, film–game intermediality, and generative AI in the creative industries.
He completed his doctoral studies in Film Studies at the Academy of Film, Hong Kong Baptist University, and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Southern California. Prior to his academic career, he worked in the news and film industries, with experience in video production and film development. His creative works have been selected for and recognised at several film festivals and competitions, including the Short Film Corner of the Cannes International Film Festival.
