Empowering the stroke victims through welf-help/mutual aid

Abstract

Cerebrovascular disease (CVD) is a common cause of death and perhaps the first cause of disability in adults in Hong Kong. CVD inevitably takes its toll on the patients and their family members and the slow and difficult rehabilitation period can be a very disempowering experience. This paper aims to report the effectiveness of using self-help/mutual help groups as a means to overcome powerlessness of the stroke victims.
