Yamazumi chart plays an extremely important role in balancing workload and meeting customer targeted demand in lean standardisation. This paper develops a comprehensive measurement index, performance loss function (PLF), based on the Yamazumi chart on standard work, in which the workload balance and meeting targeted demand can be measured together in general U-line and cross U-line condition. In addition, the analysis of the related tools and its flexibility to response the market demand changes are also discussed. By using PLF, it can be evaluated more quickly to find the best way in the iterative process of task allocation. This paper contributes to filling up the academic gap in the literature of the application in Yamazumi chart, and in providing the theoretical basis and metrics.en_US
