Abstract
馮夢龍認為太平廣記卷帙浩漫流傳不廣明朝刻本校刻不精,於是將原本500 卷合併為80 冊字數刪減到原書的一半,並加上評點,命名為太平廣記鈔.該書選輯了釋道人物的傳記和傳說,加上批語,提出“三教不妨並存”,重視釋道的勸善功能,但絕不能喧賓奪主,褻瀆儒家先師的形象,對釋道的一些教義、教規並不認同,時有異議。馮夢龍以史家的眼光,對歷史人物進行評價,尤其是對歷代荒唐殘暴的皇帝予以嚴厲的批評.身為小說家,馮夢龍敏銳地發現小說創作中一些帶有規律性的問題,對世風與小說創作之關係有精闢的論述,對小說人物的特點與成就充分肯定.在評點中,馮夢龍也藉古諷今,對明朝社會中存在的醜惡現象提出批評.
In Feng Menglong's opinion,the original Taiping Guangji was too voluminous to be popularized, and its block-printed edition made in the Ming Dynasty was not precise and exquisite. Therefore,he condensed its original 500 volumes into 80 volumes,and cut the number of words nearly by half. In addition,he wrote comments for the new collection,entitled Taiping Guangji Chao,in which he selected biographies and legends of Buddhists and Taoists. In his comments,he put forth the idea that Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism could coexist,which meant that teachings of Buddhism and Taoism should be attached importance to, but the image of the Great Sage of Confucius should not be blasphemed. He did not identify with some doctrines and disciplines of Buddhism and Taoism,and often offered his criticisms. He evaluated historical figures from a historical perspective,and criticized ridiculous and tyrannical emperors severely. As a novelist,Feng discovered the law of novel writing with brilliant insights,gave revealing comments on the relationship between public morals and novels,and acknowledged the achievements made in the characterization of the collected novels. In these comments,through criticizing the past,he alluded to the social evils in the Ming Dynasty.
