Abstract
A ‘right to bottle-feed’ movement is currently taking place among the educated middle class in Hong Kong, where traditional milk culture hardly exists. In this chapter, I focus on the link between mediation and mediatization in relation to the globalized formula milk feeding culture among the Chinese people, amid the dominant health message of ‘Breast is best’. Mediatization and mediation are competing and complementary concepts for grasping the wider consequences of the media for the social world.
