Abstract
Conceptual Metaphor Theory postulates that metaphors are a cognitive phenomenon (Lakoff and Johnson [1980] 2003; Lakoff 1993), one that is instantiated in language, but with conceptual underpinnings. Conceptual metaphors link two conceptual domains: a source domain and a target domain, where a conceptual domain is a set of entities, qualities and functions that are semantically linked (Ahrens 2010).
