Abstract
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was promulgated by China in order to increase economic integration with BRI countries. The validity of purchasing power parity (PPP) implies well-integrated goods markets and further economic cooperation for building an economic union. This study aims to examine validity
of the PPP between China and the sampled post-Soviet BRI countries. Empirical results of rank tests favour strong support for nonlinear PPP relationships during the sample period. However, the Russia-Ukraine War may have disrupted the economic integration process via BRI, which may diminish China’s economic integration process in the post-Soviet region in the future.
