Abstract
This study investigated the mediating effect of self-esteem and its relationship with death
anxiety and coping. 105 participants across three age groups were recruited to fill in a
standardized questionnaire consisted of demographic information and scales measuring
self-esteem, death anxiety and three coping strategies. Statistical results revealed that
self-esteem was possible a mediator between death anxiety and avoidant-emotional coping.
The hypothesized model was hence revised. Practical implications of the study findings were
discussed and clinical advice were also provided.
