Abstract
There are relatively few books about the psychology of Chinese people written in English, so this text attempts to fill the void in the market. It aims to identify the underlying philosophical beliefs of the Chinese and to examine the various affective, behavioral, and cognitive patterns associated with the Chinese psyche. Questions of general interest addressed in this text include: What distinguishes Chinese intergenerational relationships? How do the Chinese manage conflict? Is Chinese society generally individualist or collectivist? Are the Chinese capable of expressing their emotions? The themes explored do not constitute an exhaustive list; rather they have been chosen for their broad appeal. This book will be of particular interest to psychology students, those conducting business with the Chinese, and general readers who are keen to understand the Chinese mind.
