Cancer is never a mere illness but also a cultural phenomenon entangled with discourses of power and resistance. Having been bombarded by the widely circulated metaphors of breast cancer as "a killer" from the mass media, medical authorities and awareness campaigns, women who are diagnosed with breast cancer might see themselves as being handed down a haunting death sentence...
