Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the Asia symposium papers, representing a variety of settings and participants, an array of topics, and different segments of the life span. It includes a coverage of schools and counsellor teachers, careers teachers, and school counsellors; universities and career courses, and graduating students transitioning to the world-of-work; career profiles of transitional vs. longer-term youth who are not in education, employment or training; family service centres, community mental health services, and clinical supervision; counselling model evaluation for those with mild-to-moderate psychological issues; career development of young adults in rural coastal communities; career guidance needs of small states; training of career guidance practitioners; and gender-typing in occupational preferences. The contribution from Harrison, Fu and Cheung points out the urgent need for recognition and better utilisation of school counsellors in Hong Kong.
