Abstract
This paper reports on the construction and validation of the first whole person development inventory designed for college students (WPDI-T) in the Chinese setting. The 106-item WPDI-T is constructed with the guidance of previous research and consideration of sociocultural specificities. The development of this Inventory involved a series of qualitative and quantitative studies. The validation is performed with data collected from 1443 students of a public university in Hong Kong. Results of factor analyses suggest that the Inventory consists of six domains (intellectual, physical, professional, psychological, social, and spiritual) with 15 factors. The Inventory yields satisfactory psychometric properties. Future cross-population validation is strongly encouraged.
