Abstract
Drone-supported learning is an emerging research area in technology-enhanced learning, while little has been known about how learning models can be adequately integrated into the learning and teaching process. Aero-Experiential and Reflective Inquiry-Aimed Learning (AERIAL) is a pedagogical framework that we have developed for facilitating school students to harness drones to conduct inquiry-aimed geo-fieldwork. Besides delineating the design of AERIAL, this paper reports on our pilot study that investigated its pedagogical effectiveness in the formal learning and teaching context of senior secondary geography education in Hong Kong. The research involved 206 students from 3 secondary schools at different academic bands. Our work provides theoretical inspiration and empirical evidence to support the educational use of drones in formal schooling.
