Abstract
For just over 30 years, a strong interest in the topic of happiness has been shown by experts from the domains of psychology, economics and policy-making. Historically and philosophically, the topic of happiness has roots that go back thousands of years. For the purpose of contemporary discussion, however, it is useful to note that the term ‘happiness’ is often used interchangeably with ‘subjective well-being’.
