Abstract
This paper discusses the influences of Confucianism and Buddhism on school guidance and counseling. In Hong Kong schools, this has a key role to play in the process of schooling, as schools seek to promote the whole person growth of students and aim to encourage their self-esteem and the development of various aspects of their well-being, including personal, moral and social dimensions. This paper aims to review relevant literature into the Chinese cultural influence on school guidance and counseling, and with the textual analysis of classical texts, explore how the philosophy of Confucianism and Buddhism could be put into practice and contribute to the promotion of students’ well-being and spiritual growth.
