Abstract
魯迅和胡適不約而同地研究中國古代小說,且都取得了傑出成就.兩位先賢既有相同的學術背景與學術眼光,又有不同的研究動機與研究重點.兩人都出生於清末,從小接受私塾教育,熟讀經史,愛看古代小說,為其研究古代小說打下了堅實的基礎.他們十幾歲便進新式學堂,後來出國留學,接受西方的學術訓練與文學觀念,故其古代小說研究明顯受到西方學術思想的影響.而他們研究古代小說源自於不同契機.魯迅受聘於北京大學教授中國小說史,編寫小說史講義,系統論述中國小說的起源發展及其規律; 胡適研究古代小說是為了推廣白話文運動,研究對象僅限於白話小說.魯迅是一位著名小說家,有豐富的創作經驗,這有助於他準確掌握小說藝術特徵.胡適對小說藝術的品鑑,與魯迅比相差甚遠.但在研究過程中,互相提供資料互贈論著互引對方觀點,交流頻繁,這也是他們能成就的重要原因.
Both Lu Xun and Hu Shi,born in the late Qing dynasty,have better basis for researches of ancient novels. Besides, both of them went abroad to study and accept the Western literary ideas and academic cultivation. However,their research motives are different. Lu Xun,as a university teacher of Peking University,teaches the history of Chinese novels,so he has to systematically expound the birth,development and its rules. And Hu Shi is intended to advocate the vernacular movement. As a writer of stories,Lu Xun masters the characteristics of novels better than Hu Shi,but in their researches they have better cooperation and communication
