Abstract
This chapter reviews the studies of the social and economic effects of globalization. It analyzes the literacy, migration, and health; interact with one another which affect the social and economic development of nations. The chapter reviews the patterns and trends in literacy across regions, and discusses the possible correlation between literacy rates and economic well-being. This chapter explores on the labor migration issue since the presence of international migrants adds to the stock of human capital in destination areas. It investigates the international migration trends and addressing the major socio-economic impact of migration. The chapter also discusses the potential problems incurred from human trafficking and its influence on local economy. This chapter explains the health issues such as the prevalence of AIDS and drug abuse around the world. It explores on globalization and the relationship between leading issues such as education, labor migration, and health and economic development.
