Abstract
After a brief review of genre analysis in translation studies, this paper will focus on how this grounded genre analysis can be applied in the translation of professional discourse. Then it will discuss some implications for professional translator training, and in particular for the financial translation of Interim/Annual Reports, an area that will magnet increasing importance followingChina's entry into the WTO.
