Description

The Cognitive Psychology Laboratory of Hong Kong Shue Yan University consists of two adjacent and separate rooms. It was established in January 2008 in line with the development of the university and the Department of Counselling and Psychology. The laboratory is well-equipped with ample facilities for conducting research, holding seminars and demonstrations for teaching purpose.

The main room is equipped with an instructor workstation and 20 students' personal computers for workshop and seminar purposes. A movable curtain surrounding the instructor workstation can form an isolated cubicle for carrying out experiments that require a controlled environment. Computers installed with reaction time measurement programs allow students to conduct their own cognitive research.

An annex adjacent to the main room is setup for conducting experiments. It has a workstation ready for cognitive and psychophysics experiments. Matlab and E-prime are installed for writing self-programmed stimulus. Other equipment such as a pair of stereogoggles can be used for depth perception experiments, and an eye-tracker for eye-movement studies.
