Abstract: | The dimensions, structure, and development of personality are covered in Chapter 10. The chapter starts by providing historical definitions and basic dimensions of personality. It then goes on to explore the different perspectives of personality provided in the Psychoanalytic, Neo-Psychoanalytic, Evolutionary, Behavioral-Learning, Social-Learning, Trait, Existential, Humanistic, and Interactionist theories. As culture has a definite bearing on personality development, a special section in this chapter is devoted to the Asian perspective of personality, and indigenous studies of personality in India, the Philippines, Japan, and China are discussed in some detail. |
