Abstract: | In the chapters of this volume, we have discussed key cognitive IDs such as intelligence, language aptitude, metalinguistic ability, learning strategies, self-regulation, working memory and attention/noticing, as well as some selective affective factors (e.g., motivation, anxiety, emotion) that have not been figured prominently in most previous monographs and textbooks of IDs in SLA. In addition, we have discussed topics barely touched directly in previous SLA textbooks, that of learning disability and learning difficulties experienced by L2 learners, which we believe to be relevant and important. Overall, we hope that the chapters in the current volume have succeeded in presenting updated research on these ID factors by authors pursuing diverse perspectives. |
