Title: The effectiveness of hope in the enhancement of psychological well-being among Hong Kong emerging adulthood

Abstract: For the emerging adult, the “Quarter-life crisis” was the main challenges for them and it might lead them to have self-doubt, get lost and confused to the current situation or to the future life. Slezakova (2017) demonstrated that hope cultivation could help people to increase self-esteem, problem-solving skills, the pathways develop skills, enhancement of the motivation and the positive emotion which were the essential elements and technique for helping the emerging adult to confront with the “Quarter-life crisis”. The research project would be divided into 2 studies. Study 1 aimed to prove the mechanism of hope, persistence and psychological well-being. Study 2 aimed to use the hope intervention to enhance Hong Kong emerging adult’s hope level, persistence level, psychological well-being, optimism and positive and measure the persistence effect on those variables. For the result, study 1’s hypothesis is accepted, it proved the mechanism of hope, persistence and psychological well-being. In study 2, only the enhancement of hope, optimism and positive affect was significant, there was no persistence effect showed in the study. The whole study proved that the hope cultivation could provide help to the emerging adult and help them to confront the "Quartier-life crisis". It is because "Hope" was the essential elements for people to fight for the difficulties, confusion and anxiety in the current situation and the future world.
