Europe and emerging Asia

Abstract

How should Europe respond to the emergence of Asia as a new power centre of the world? This Federal Trust Report examines the issues at play in Europe and emerging Asia, and suggests how a new partnership could be formed between the two. The causes and consequences of the Asian financial crisis are studies, and European anxieties about how to develop a long term, stable relationship with Asia are explained. Equally, the deepening of European integration, and the currency reform and enlargement of the European Union pose questions for the Asian countries about where Europe is headed in world affairs. -- Back cover
