Department of Economics and Finance
Mission
The Department of Economics was founded in 1977. Its Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics was accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications in 2004, and was furhter restructured into a four-year programme in 2009 under the name BA (Honours) in Economics and Finance. The Department of Economics was also renamed into Department of Economics and Finance. Moroever, its Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Financial Technlogy was accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications in 2020.
These programmes aim to cultivate students with a solid understanding of economic and finance theories, and financial technologies, with an ability to apply this knowledge in various decision-making situations. Recently the Department is offering:
1. Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and Finance
2. Balchelor of Commerce (Honours) in Financial Technology
3. Master of Philosophy in Economics Programme
4. Doctor of Philosophy in Economics Programme
