The present study was designed to examine the relationship between music experience and self-regulation. In this study, 127 local university students (64 with musical training and 63 without musical training) in Hong Kong participated in. They were asked to complete a questionnaire with to measure their scores on music experience and self-regulation. Results indicated that the formal musical training group had a significantly higher score in self-regulation than the non-formal musical training group. Yet, the difference between the scores in both groups on music experience was not significant. Also, the music experience of the full sample could not predict self-regulation, except “affect reactions” which is an element of music experience.engMusic therapy.Music Psychological aspects. The relationship between music experience and self-regulationMusic and self-regulation.Thesis
