This paper develops a comprehensive measurement index, performance loss function (PLF), based on the Yamazumi chart on standard work, in which the workload balance and meeting targeted demand can be measured together in general U-line and cross U-line condition. In addition, the analysis of the related tools and its flexibility to response the market demand changes are also discussed. By using PLF, it can be evaluated more quickly to find the best way in the iterative process of task allocation.
