Results indicated that the teachers shared the counselling values of counselling psychologists more than those endorsed by psychologists in general, as they prized the humanistic qualities. Although they rated the guidance activities to be implemented to a certain extent, the endorsement levels were found to be predicted by their counselling values, instead of reflecting how far the programmes have been actually implemented. The findings show that years of teaching experience and counselling-related training had an effect on their endorsements of the general psychology values which are more scientific and theory-oriented. Teachers’ responses to open questions, and the potential contributions of counselling psychologists to the Comprehensive Student Guidance Service in areas of policy and organization, supportive service, personal growth education, and responsive service, are discussed.eng chiCounselling ValuesGuidance ProgrammesTeachers’ PerceptionsHong KongEducational counseling.Teacher participation in educational counseling.Teachers' perceptions of counselling : counselling values and guidance programmes in primary schools of Hong KongCounselling values and guidance progammes.Thesis
