As such, it will first briefly review some of the developmental milestones of foreign language aptitude research in the past several decades, which gives rise to possible lacunas in the field. Then the present paper will elaborate on four recent attempts by aptitude researchers to reconceptualize the foreign language aptitude construct, thus laying the ground for future endeavors to further develop the theory.
