Abstract: As a real-life application, a flood simulation and damage assessment decision support system is built with the development shell examined in the first of the two papers. The system is successfully applied to simulate and assess a flooding situation in Sun Hugou watershed in China. It demonstrates the way flood process models (simulation models), rule-based evaluations, and various types of spatial data can be intelligently utilized in an integrative and interactive environment. The application illustrates that the shell developed has great potential in developing decision support systems for complex spatial problems. © 1997 OPA (Overseas Publishers Association) Amsterdam B.V.
